To improve services, build community
and create a fairer society

We are a network across different sectors committed to changing the way things work for the better.

We know that if we want to improve services, build community, and create a fairer and more inclusive society, some things really need to change.

Alone, it can be hard to make change happen. With others, it becomes easier and so much more is possible. We come together to share our knowledge, learn from each other, and influence others.

We welcome anyone who is attracted by the Better Way thinking and would like to help us develop it further.

Resetting the relationship between Government and Civil Society

The Better Way network has been in discussions with Number 10 and DCMS about the Government’s proposals for a new Civil Society Covenant. We have been feeding in our ideas for a new type of relationship, based on a shared belief in service, drawing on Better Way thinking as well as examples of good practice from across our network. You can find a paper which sets this out here.

A response to the racist riots in Summer 2024

Members of the Better Way Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion working group came together to plan a response. “The recent display of overt racism feels targeted, orchestrated, and has left many of us feeling challenged, dismayed, and concerned for our safety. Seeing the community response against the violence shows that there is much good will and understanding on which to build, however we know that many people and communities have been left traumatised by their experience…We believe that some fresh thinking and action is needed…”.
